ACA impact on more-than-2% S Corporation shareholders
The Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation from Iowa State University has published a nice article outlining the impact of the Affordable Care Act /ACA/ on S Corporation shareholders with more than 2% ownership.
It should be noted that certain healthcare arrangements can subject your company to potential fines of up to $100 per day per employee per violation. That could amount to $36,500 per year per employee per violation!
There is still a lot of confusion and lingering concerns about ACA impact. Careful review of your situation with your tax advisor should ensure conservative compliance until more guidance is available.
